In a hotly contested MIAA C Conference game with playoff implications, Indian Creek gave first place and undefeated Chapelgate Christian all that they could handle Saturday afternoon in Crownsville before the Yellowjackets claimed a 53-47 decision.

After holding a 14-13 lead after one quarter, Chapelgate (15-5 overall, 7-0 league) pushed their lead to 30-23 at halftime.

The Eagles battled back and held the Yellowjackets to only seven third quarter points to keep it a one possession game after three quarters.

However, the Yellowjackets pushed the lead to 10 after an and-one by Winfred Taylor.  After gathering themselves and scoring five straight, the Eagles (10-9, 5-3)were able to cut the lead to 49-44 with one minute to go.

After a jump ball, Taylor and Nate Frierson were able to make four-of-four free throws down the stretch to seal with win for Chapelgate Christian.

Taylor led the way for Chapelgate scoring 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.  Chisom Uzosike and Matt Phillips also reached double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Tashoun Barnes had a huge game to continue his impressive sophomore season for Indian Creek with 26 points and 13 rebounds.

Indian Creek will travel to Beth T’Filoh on Tuesday for a shot to jump back in the hunt for a home playoff game.
