Chapelgate Christian opened defense of its MIAA C Conference basketball crown Tuesday night in Brooklandville and the visiting Yellowjackets received a double-digit scoring effort from five different players to cruise to a 74-42 win over Park School.

Matt Phillips was the leading scorer for Chapelgate with 16 points, but Chika Obi posted a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Nate Frierson also scored 14 points, to go with four steals, while Winfield Taylor and Chisom Uzosike scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.

While improving to 6-2 overall the Yellowjackets raced out to a 22-13 first quarter lead and put the game away for good with a 23-6 third quarter advantage.

The host Bruins (3-2, 0-1) had four players share team-high scoring honors, all with six points.  The quartet included Mark Rothleither, Brandon Keiser, Danill Lyallo and Jake Abrams.
