When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: These two Howard County rivals are all too familiar with one another. Wilde Lake visited Atholton last week for the regular season finale and left with a 27-15 loss. With the win, the Raiders clinched home field advantage for tonight’s Class 3A East Regional playoff game.
The Wildecats had a tough game against Atholton’s offensive line in last week’s contest. On offense, however, Wilde Lake found success on the ground. Senior running back Khalil Viera ran for 85 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Backfield mates E.J. Gilman and A.J. Harris combined for 177 yards.
Raiders’ senior RB Andrew King rushed for 212 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns in last Friday’s game. Junior QB Brian McMahon also rushed for two touchdowns. Under second-year head coach Kyle Schmitt, the Raiders are tough to beat at home with a 10-1 mark.
Atholton has won three consecutive games against Wilde Lake dating back to last season, including a 14-13 win in the playoffs.
