Senior forward Greg Whittington had 31 points to lead No. 9 Oakland Mills in a 65-53 win over visiting Howard on Friday night, sweeping the season series.

The six-foot-nine Whittington has scored in double-figures in every game this season for the Scorpions and is averaging 23.4 points per contest.

James Peters added 11 points for Oakland Mills, which improved to 15-0 overall and 12-0 in the Howard County league.  Kurtis Coleman and Joe Kiely each added six points.

The Scorpions led 16-11 after the first quarter and held a commanding 36-21 advantage at halftime.

Trailing 50-30 entering the fourth quarter, the Lions  tried to make a late push.  Howard outscored Oakland Mills, 23-15, in the last eight minutes but the deficit was too great to overcome.
