Etchison rushes for two scores and throws for another as the Owls lead the Carroll County standings

Since it played an independent schedule the first two years since the old MVAL Conference split up and Carroll County formed its own conference, the Westminster football team is bidding for its first County crown, in 2017, as it returned to the fold this fall. And, if things continue at their current rate, the Owls just make good on their title quest.

Westminster (5-1 overall) improved to 3-0 in Carroll County action, Friday night, with a 33-6 rout of Century, leaving the Owls as the only remaining squad in league action.

The offense was slow to develop on Friday, but quarterback Christian Etchison’s 3-yard touchdown run, in the second quarter, proved to be the spark Westminster needed. Evan Warren added a 19-yard field goal, later in the second quarter and the Owls went to half up 10-0.

Warren booted a second field goal for the only scoring of the third quarter and when Etchison scored his second touchdown, on a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter, the Owls had established a 19-0 lead.

Collin Ende finally got Century (1-4, 1-1) on the scoreboard with a 2-yard TD run, but the Owls salted the victory away with a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Jaden Louis and a 41-yard TD toss from Etchison to Cole Prodoehl.
