Dons hold off late surge by AACS for 58-54 decision

At home at Blakefield for its 2021 basketball season opener on Wednesday, Loyola raced out to a 17-point halftime lead before holding off visiting Annapolis Area Christian School for a 58-54 victory.

The Dons appeared in control with a 32-15 lead at the half and a 45-31 advantage after three quarters, as Gavin Walsh led the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Cam Smith added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the Dons and John Dixon contributed 13 points.

Tre Sims would not let AACS fade, as he scored a game-high 23 points, including 19 in the second half.
