With wet field conditions and a steady rain falling throughout the contest, a strong running game was critical in Friday’s Baltimore County football clash between Towson and host Dulaney, in Lutherville.
Paced by four rushing touchdowns from Damen Jones, the Generals were able to power their way into the end zone once in each quarter and fight their way to a 27-12 victory.
All four Jones’ touchdowns were bounced to the outside as he outran the defense to the left pylon on each occasion. He scored from four yards out in the first quarter and from five yards in the second period. Each of his second half touchdowns were from one yard.
“They called my number and told me to get to the pylon, if I could, and that’s just what I did,” said Jones. “I just did my thing when I had to.”
Trailing 6-0, Dulaney pulled within one early in the second quarter when Chris Davis scored on a five yard run. The two-point conversion failed.
The Lions were unable to reach the end zone again until the fourth quarter, when they were already trailing 27-6. DJ Foster put the final points on the board when he made an outstanding catch, over Jones, to bring in an 18 yard TD pass.
