It was an impressive showing for the Friends girls soccer team on Wednesday afternoon, on its home turf, as the Quakers powered past Seton Keough, 5-0.

Senior captain Jessica Van Dyke led the offense with three goals and an assist, as the Quakers squared their overall record at 2-2 while winning their IAAM B Conference opener.  Van Dyke, red hot to start the season, already has seven goals in 2010.

Lucy Klein and Sarah Wallack also scored for Friends, which built a 3-0 halftime lead.  Freshman Eliza Harris had two assists, while Ella Cooper and Abby Corkum also had helpers.

Van Dyke’s first goal came in the 15th minute when she converted swung by Harris.  Harris found Van Dyke again five minutes later, with a through ball, for the second Quaker goal and she completed her hat-trick in the first half when Corkum, also a freshman, played a ball in behind to set Van Dyke up for the finish.

Early in the second half, Van Dyke gain made things happen when she played a ball down the line before sending into the box to the feet of Klein who tucked it past the goalkeeper.  Wallack capped the scoring off a pass from Cooper.

The Friends’ backline of Mackenzie Gerrity, Katie Baker, Harris and senior co-captain Emma Sissman orchestrated the shutout for the Quakers.
