The Urbana Hawks cleared their way into the 3A/4A North Regional Duals with a recent wins over Frederick, 72-12, and Tuscarora, 45-27.
Going on two winning-runs of seven and five straight matches, the Hawks found an easy win over the Cadets with nine falls and three forfeits to produce a 72-point team score.
Pinners started with Jake Thomas (145), Steven Redding (152), Joe Rimel (171), Matt Semelsberger (189), Drew Thomas (215) and Danny Hipkins (285), pinning through the first Urbana run, and continued with Brandon Plante (112), Nick Frank (119), Matt Steinheimer (125) and Billy Krop (135).
Urbana went on to trounce Tuscarora by an 18-point spread with a needed six consecutive wins to close the match after trailing 27-12.
Battling the 100th career-wins of Tuscarora’s Wenzlaff and Cummings in back-to-back falls at 152 and 160, the Hawks had crucial pins by Semelsberger, Nick Frank, Steinheimer, and Thomas in the comeback.
Urbana is set to take on the No. 2 seeded Hereford Bulls, Wednesday, in the semis of the 3A/4A North Regional Duals, with the winner taking on the victor of No. 1 seeded Poly and No. 4 seeded Towson.
