Michael East led Gilman to their eighth straight squash win in the MIAA this season, as the Greyhounds (14-1, 8-0) stayed undefeated in conference play with a 7-0 win over McDonogh (3-5, 3-4) at the Meadowmill Athletic Club on Thursday afternoon. The Greyhounds are pursuing their fifth consecutive conference championship under coach Boo Smith. They have not lost in league play since the MIAA introduced squash as a varsity sport in 2007.
East, playing as the No. 1 seed for Smith defeated McDonogh’s Foster Hoff 3-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-2).
“It was great to see our whole team finish the regular season oh a high note. Our young guys really stepped up this season and we hope to continue our success next weekend at the Nationals,” said Smith.
Gilman will go for their fifth straight MIAA crown on February 7-8 at Meadowmill when the team championships are held.
Individual championships are held the following week.
