Augie Miceli, Jr. shares his special memories of playing for his legendary father at Calvert Hall
by Gary Adornato
Welcome to the fourth episode of Turkey Bowl Tales as we interview legendary figures from the Turkey Bowl rivalry between Calvert Hall and Loyola. After spending the first two episodes interviewing Turkey Bowl historians Nelson Coffin and Tom Bateman, we got into the coaching perspective, in Episode 3, with Loyola greats Joe Brune and John Stewart.
In Episode 4 we welcome in Augie Miceli, Jr., the son of the great Augie Miceli, who passed away over the summer after retiring as a teacher at the Hall at the age of 86.
Augie, Jr. not only shares memories of his playing days at Calvert Hall, but provides special insight to his family’s Thanksgiving Day rituals and how his dad prepared for the games, especially the Turkey Bowl.
This series will include 10 episodes as we prepare for the 100th anniversary of this historic rivalry. Below are links to the first three episodes as well as the audio player for the current episode. We hope you enjoy.
