The MIAA has five wresters seeded No. 2 in their respective weightclasses and tis weekend’s National Preps, with MIAA and MIS State Champion Archbishop Spading doubling in the honor.

Spalding, being led by Charlie Lynch and KK Smith, will see its two wresters try and roll their way to national championships at 145 and 171, respectively, while MIAA and MIS second runner-up St. Paul’s is highest seeded with No. 2 Pete Galli (140) and three-time state champ Eric Friedman, a third seed at 119.

Spalding’s Wi Switzer joins the ranked Cavaliers at 140 with a fifth overall seed, while the Crusaders added No. 5 Jack Mutchnik at 103, No. 6 Brad Mutchnik at 152 and No. 8 seed Mike Green at 189.

McDonogh’s Kevin Marvel splits Smith and Green at the 189-pound weightclass, being seeded No. 4, and is one of eight Eages wrestlers to receive a high seed.  Others include No. 2 seeded Jack Cark (130), No. 6 Xavi Ramos (119), No. 7’s Logan Meister (112) and Roman Braglio (285), No. 8 Toby Hague (140), No. 11 Max Sataloff (160) and  No. 12 Tyler Patrick (152).

John Carroll and Archbishop Curley each notched three wrestlers in top spots for the weekend, with the Pats’ No. 3 Mathew Miller (171), No. 4 Scott Strappelli (119) and No. 5 George Weber (130), while Curley does battle with No. 4 Brett Przywara (135), No. 10 Brett Brigman (160) and No. 11 Vince Scarinzi (112).

Mount St. Joe was the third MIAA team to host three ranked wresters, with Tyler Rill, sixth at 160, Tyler Tippett, seventh at 215, and Kevin Johnson, 10th at 130.

David Mohler was the only highly seeded Don, ranking second at 103 for Loyola, as John Chenault ranked 10th at 125 for St. Vincent Pallotti and Bryce Pappas entered at 152 as the eighth seed for St. Mary’s.
