One of the toughest counties in the Baltimore-Metro area, the Howard County Wrestling Championships is sure to pack all the punch wrestling fans can take this weekend at Oakland Mills High School.
Glenelg has already run through their Howard County opponents, going perfect through their regular season, but, oddly enough, only hold number one-seeded wrestlers in Jake Borkowski and Charles Wall at 145 and 160, while Reservoir and Wilde Lake each have three top spots.
Wilde Lake earned top seeds in Marcus Coffield (135), Tola Morankinyo (140) and Zathy Ndiang (189), but the Gators are also looking to take a run at the tournament title with top seeds Mason Kilcarr (103), Mark Colabucci (171) and Josh Hamilton (285).
Colabucci is staring at a solid finals match with second seed Alvin harris of Wilde Lake, but other top bouts fall between Oakland Mills’s Tony Farace and Wilde Lake’s Alex Polonsky at 112 and River Hill’s Cameron Kirby and Reservoir’s Seth Rowell at 130.
Added to Kirby, River Hill has a number one seed in Jacob Benedict at 215, while Oakland Mills adds Alex DoQuang to its top seeds with Farace.
With the top seeds spread across the county, wrestle-backs for third place are going to be a big part in defining the tournament champion, but only time will tell who will reign supreme in the Howard County Wrestling Championships.
