One quarter is all top-ranked Archbishop Spalding needed to take control of its IAAM A Conference quarterfinal playoff game with visiting Mercy, on Tuesday, and the Cavs cruised into the semifinals with a 71-31 win.
Mercy was held to just two first quarter points while Spalding built a 19-2 lead.
Ten Cavaliers dented the score sheet, led by 16 points from Shaquilla Curtis. Maggie Morrison added 13 and Sherae Swinson finished with 10.
