Mount St. Joseph, the top-ranked team in the VSN boys soccer poll, scored a pair of impressive victories on Saturday in the Walt Whitman soccer tournament, defeating host Whitman and Winston Churchill, as the Gaels opened their season.
In the early contest, star forward Jalen Robinson scored the game’s only goal, off an assist from Nick Buric, in a 1-0 victory over Whitman, a top five team in the DC area.
In the evening contest, Buric had a goal and an assist, as did Joey Isaja, as the two propelled Coach Mike St. Martin’s squad to a 2-0 win over Churchill.
St. Joe will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when it hosts No. 17 Eastern Tech.
