Iluyomade socres twice to lead a 5-0 victory over John Carroll

Since a scoreless season-opening draw with Severna Park, the top-ranked Archbishop Spalding girls soccer team has been on a tear, rolling off five consecutive victories, including Thursday, 5-0, IAAM A Conference rout of visiting John Carroll, in Severna Park.

Fifi Iluyomade led the Cavaliers on Tuesday with a pair of goals, netting the team’s first in the 30th minute and its last in the 69th minute. In between, Jenna Snead, Asia Manu and Zoe Lape also scored.

Spalding goalkeeper Jillian Savageau, who now has five shutouts, record five saves and assisted on the day’s first goal, as her well placed punt created a breakaway situation for Iluyomade.

Snead’s goal game on a penalty kick, Val LaMore assisted Lape and Isabella Nelson, with well struck corner kick, provided the helper on Iluyomade’s second goal.

The Cavaliers have only allowed one goal this season and it game in a 4-1 win over St. John’s (DC). They are now 5-0-1 overall and 2-0 in the A Conference. Next up, is the first of two regular season showdowns with No. 2 McDonogh, Tuesday in Owings Mills.

John Carroll (1-2-1 overall, 0-1 IAAM A) has another tough challenge on Saturday as it will visit No. 6 Bel Air.
