Lady Panthers top Bishop Loughlin (NY) in championship game


The final weekend of 2017 will be remembered as a banner one for the Pikesville girls basketball team as the Lady Panthers swept a pair of games at the Title IX Classic, held at the DC Armory, to win the Donnis Thompson bracket championship.

In Saturday’s championship game Pikesville defeated Bishop Loughlin (NY), 55-45, after downing Bell (DC), 53-33, in Thursday’s opening round and BCAM (NY), 63-35, in Friday’s semifinals.

Sophomore guard Tyra Robinson scored 10 points in the final and was named Tournament MVP. Charia Roberts led the way in the championship game with 15 points and Kayla Jackson scored 12. In addition, Teylah Saunders and Keante Lewis scored eight each.

With the three victories, the Panthers improved to 4-0 on the season.
