Winfield Taylor of Chapelgate Christian has opened the 2010-11 basketball season with two consecutive double-double performances, including a 14 point, 18 rebound effort, Friday night, to lead the Yellow Jackets (2-0) to a 43-25 win over Grace Bible in the semifinals of the Arlington Baptist Invitational.
Chapelgate now advances to Saturday evening’s championship game (7:00 p.m.), against the host Eagles.
Chapelgate built a 21-9 haftime lead and remained in control throughout.
Nate Frierson scored nine points and added four assists for the defending MIAA C Conference champs, while Chika Obi had 10 rebounds and Matt Philips added five steals.
Many Ice scored 13 points to lead Grace Bible and Ray Holden finished with eight points.
