If the first three games are any indication, it will be a big year for Chapelgate Christian’s Winfield Taylor, who posted three straight double-doubles to lead the Yellow Jackets to a season-opening tournament championship this week at Arlington Baptist.
In Saturday night’s championship game, Taylor scored 16 points and added 12 rebounds and five assists to lead Chapelgate to a 66-28 win over host Arlington Baptist. Taylor was an easy pick as the Tournament MVP.
Nate Frierson also had a big three game run, scoring 15 points to go with seven assists and five steals in the final. He was named to the All-Tournament team along with Matt Phillips, who scored 10 points on Saturday.
