Mandy Bendix hit two home runs including the tiebreaker in the bottom of the sixth, leading second-ranked Glenelg High to a 6-3 victory over No. 13 Howard in a Howard County softball contest Friday afternoon.

Marissa Saglimbeni went 2 for 3 with a homerun and Faith Kujawa also homered for the unbeaten Gladiators (16-0 overall, 13-0 Howard). The Gladiators scored four runs in the sixth to break a 2-2 deadlock.

Senior shortstop Leah Allen led off with a bloop single and stole second. Bendix hit her second homer of the game, ending Howard starter Kayli Paugh’s day. Sharon Mielke singled off of Howard reliever Courtney Merson, and Kujawa went deep to extend the Gladiators’ advantage to 6-2.

Katie Wilkinson’s homer in the seventh for Howard, but Colleen Regan retired the final two batters to close out another victory for Glenelg. Regan struck out seven and walked one.

Wilkinson went 3 for 4 with two RBI for Howard. Taylor McGrann and Brittany Bryson each had a RBI.
