The brackets for the state boys’ soccer tournament were revealed Monday afternoon. Seven area squads received a region top seed.
Defending Class 2A champ Marriotts Ridge is No. 1 in the 2A South Region. The Mustangs, seeking a third consecutive trip to the state finals, will host the winner of Friday’s opening round match between Hammond and McDonough from Charles County, in the quarterfinals Nov. 2.
Dundalk (North) and Bel Air (East) also garnered top seeds. The Owls reached the state 2A Final Four last season, losing to Fallston in the semifinals. Defending East region champ Fallston is the No. 6 seed in the sectional bracket.
In 4A, undefeated Arundel has top billing in the East Region. The Wildcats, who will play Wilde Lake, for the District V title Tuesday evening at Meade, begin their postseason against Old Mill or Annapolis in the quarterfinals. Defending region champ Broadneck is seeded third.
Howard County champ Wilde Lake is the top seed in the 3A East. The unbeaten Wildecats will Howard or Mount Hebron in the quarterfinals. Atholton, last year’s region champ, is the No. 6 seed.
Loch Raven, which won its first state title in 33 years last season, has the top seed in the 1A South. The Raiders, who play Perry Hall for the Baltimore County crown Tuesday, will play Surrattsville from Prince George’s County or Western Tech in the quarterfinals.
Patterson Mill has the No. 1 seed in the 1A North.
Region semifinal play is scheduled for Nov. 5 at the higher seed with the finals Nov. 9. State semifinal matches will be played at Bel Air (Class 2A), CCBC-Essex (3A), North County (1A) and Richard Montgomery (4A).
The state finals will again be played at UMBC, Nov. 18-20
