Falcons capture their first ever MIAA A league victory

After moving to the MIAA A Conference last year and going winless in league play, Gerstell’s boys basketball team captured its first ever league victory in the area’s strongest conference, Wednesday night, defeating Annapolis Area Christian, 55-50, on the road in Annapolis.

Jeremiah Stanton, who helped the Falcons win back-to-back B Conference titles as a freshman and sophomore, led Gerstell on Wednesday as he scored a game-high 17 points.

The Falcons (2-2 overall) limited AACS (0-4) to 17 first half points as they built a 23-17 lead. Gerstell, which also received 15 points from Dayyan Noble, then outscored the Eagles 19-10 in the third quarter to take a commanding 15-point advantage into the final quarter.

Annapolis Area, however, made a charge, scoring 23 fourth quarter points to close the gap. Tre Sims led AACS with 15 points and Dylan Long netted 14.
