In a match-up of two basketball teams which celebrated championships last winter, St. Paul’s, of the MIAA B Conference, traveled to Calvert Hall on Wednesday and broke away from the reigning Baltimore Catholic League champs in the second half, to claim a 58-46 victory.
Calvert Hall led by one after the opening quarter, but the Crusaders rallied to take a 26-22 halftime lead and stretched their advantage to 14 after three quarters.
Three Crusaders scored in double figures, led by 14 points from Lamont Wade. Cliff Cornish, a 6-foot-8 newcomer, added 13 points for St. Paul’s and Nigel Sydnor finished with 11.
Justin Beck paced Calvert Hall (1-1) with 16 points.
St. Paul’s, which dropped its opener to John Carroll, improved to 1-1 on the season.
