Despite battling a much larger Friends front court, St. Mary’s Danny Usewick, who stands just 5-feet-10 inches grabbed 10 rebounds, added four steals and scored three points to help the visiting Saints knock Friends, 63-50, in MIAA B Conference basketball Friday night.
Mike Wilde scored a team-high 19 points for St. Mary’s and he had six assists, while point guard Tevin Johnson added 13 points and four assists and Chakhan Smith scored nine points.
Friends star Jon Schmidt led all scorers with 24 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter. It was not enough, however, to rally the Quakers.
