Saints blank Park; Severn tops AACS

Two long-time MIAA rivals, St. Mary’s and Severn remain undefeated in the MIAA B Conference soccer standings after each claimed victories on the road Friday afternoon.

No. 20 St. Mary’s traveled to Brooklandville and improved to 5-0 (overall and in the conference) with a 2-0 win over the host Bruins.

The Saints took a 1-0 first half lead on a goal by Kam Ross which was assisted by Charlie Roy. With 30 minutes remaining in the second half, Roy again delivered a helper, this time to Nicky Souza, who finished for the 2-0 advantage.

At the same time, Severn (6-1, 4-0 MIAA B) won its sixth consecutive game since a season opening loss to Archbishop Spalding, with a 2-1 win at Annapolis Area Christian.

Reece Taylor’s unassisted goal gave the Admirals a 1-0 lead in the first half and Alan Tchamourliyski’s unassisted tally in the second half proved to be the game-winner.

The Saints and Admirals will meet for the first time, next Friday at Severn. Before that meeting, St. Mary’s will host Glenelg County on Wednesday and Severn will travel to Friends, also on Wednesday.
