Top-ranked Mount St. Joseph entertained No. 16 Eastern Tech on Tuesday, but the visit was not very enjoyable for the Mavericks, as they suffered a 4-0 setback to the Gaels.
Nick Buric staked St. Joe to a 1-0 lead with an early goal and made it 2-0 with a second score, in the second half. David Kaiser and David Falvo also netted goals for St. Joe, while Tyler Door had an assist.
In addition to their No. 1 rating by Varsity Sports Network, St. Joe was ranked No. 10 in the nation in the initial rankings for 2010 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, which were released this week.
The Gaels are also No. 2 in the NSCAA Region IV poll, which also includes McDonogh (No. 6), DeMatha (No. 10) and Gonzaga (No. 14).
