Patterson Mill jumps up early and defeats North Harford, 8-3

Patterson Mill’s Steve Spencer pitched seven strong innings Monday afternoon at North Harford, allowing just three hits and no earned runs to lead the fifth-ranked Huskies to an 8-3 UCBAC Chesapeake Division victory.

Spencer also ignited the offense with a two out RBI double in the top of the first inning, plating Max Elliott, who led-off the inning with a single, as the Huskies took an early 1-0 advantage.

Patterson Mill (6-1 overall, 3-1 UCBAC Chesapeake) made it 3-0 in the second with an RBI single by Carson Uebersax and bases loaded walk by Elliott. In the third, Nathan Vujanic drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Two more runs scored on a bases loaded bunt by Uebersax.

North Harford (3-4 overall, 0-3 UCBAC Chesapeake) got on the board in the fourth inning on back-to-back infield errors. Bobby Duffy, who drew a one out walk, and Derek McManus, who singled, scored for the Hawks. The Huskies, however, answered with two runs in the top of the fifth, one on an infield error and the other on a sac fly by Ben Lust.
