Archbishop Spalding senior Austin Neary has committed to play his college baseball at Western Carolina University.
Neary is a two-time All MIAA selection, as well as two-time all Anne Arundel County pick.
In two seasons, Neary has compiled a .458 batting average with 11 home runs and 73 RBI. His accrued on base percentage of .641 comes with a .029 strikeout percentage, having struck out just eight times in 270 total plate appearances in two varsity seasons.
During the past two summers, Neary played ball with the Maryland Cavaliers where he hit .515 with 19 home runs and 107 RBI. He has also played fall ball for the Oriolanders showcase team in each of the last two seasons.
Next spring he will be one of 19 returning varsity players from the 11-4 Spalding team who finished third in the MIAA A Conference playoffs last year.
