Trying to knock off undefeated Bullis School in the semifinals of the Bullis Holiday Classic, Saturday evening, Archbishop Spalding held an eight point lead on their hosts with 1:24 to play, but Bullis staged a furious rally to regain the lead and forced Spalding to make a play in the final seconds.  The Cavaliers responded.

Greg Brown drained a turn-around, fade-away three-point jumper as the final horn sounded, lifting Spalding to a thrilling 52-51 victory.  It was Brown’s third three of the night and he finished the contest with 12 points.

Eric Fisher led all scorers with 18 points while Sean Kemp added eight for head coach Derrick Lewis.

Bullis led a tight game, 27-26, at the half, but Spalding (5-4) seized the lead in third quarter and held it down to the final seconds.

Nigel Pruit led Bullis (7-1) with 14 points, while Scott Duruji and Joseph Hazel scored 12 each.

On Friday, Spalding opened tournament play with another nail-biter, edging St. Vincent Pallotti, 58-56.

Spalding will now meet Westtown (PA) in Sunday’s championship game at 5:00 p.m.  Westtown defeated Archbishop Carroll of the WCAC, 51-46, in Saturday’s other semifinal.
