Davonte Burke and Jerel Williams each scored two touchdowns, leading Southern-Anne Arundel to a 35-0 victory over Chesapeake-Anne Arundel Friday evening in an Anne Arundel County league match.

The Bulldogs (6-2 overall, 6-2 Anne Arundel) led 28-0 at halftime as the Harwood school kept pace in the 2A South Region playoff race. Southern was fourth (7.29) behind Douglass-Prince George’s County entering the weekend.

Burke opened the scoring with a 50-yard touchdown run, and Williams scored from 32 yards out in the opening quarter. Williams followed a Hunter Riggs’ 40-yard run with a 10-yard jaunt in the second.

Burke closed the scoring with a 56-yard third quarter touchdown run. Southern travels to Annapolis next weekend before returning home for the regular season finale against No. 2 Arundel Nov. 5.

Chesapeake (0-8, 0-8 Anne Arundel) hosts South River in Anne Arundel league action next weekend. The Cougars have lost 21 consecutive games.
