With just seven players dress, Lakers prevail on the road

Going into Wednesday’s MIAA A Conference basketball game at Calvert Hall, Boys’ Latin was a little short-handed, as the Lakers dressed only seven players, but BL still found a way, knocking off the Cardinals, 60-53

Due to a mandatory school function, the Lakers were without the services of all four of their seniors, including three starters, one of which is standout Jaylin Andrews. Regardless, the Laker underclassmen dug deep. Junior Cameron Spencer took the leadership reigns for Andrews and the rest of his teammates responded equally impressively. Spencer scored 17 points, snagged eight rebounds and dished out six assists.

Fellow juniors Sam Grace, Dogan Hardway and Cameron Watts added another 13, 11 and 10 points, respectively. Hardway and junior Kwaku Akuffo also snagged nine rebounds each. In addition, reserve juniors Damon Spells and Alex Lee played quality minutes throughout the night with Spells scoring two late buckets to secure the win and Lee created two turnovers on defense and dished out a couple dimes.

Calvert Hall was led by sharp-shooters Brendan Adams and Logan Curtis, who combined for 34 points, in a game that went down to the wire.
