Oakland Mill’s Eaton scores 31 in season-opening win over Catonsville

Catonsville may be known as the Comets, but the Baltimore County school ran into a shooting star, Thursday night, as Catonsville traveled to Howard County to face Oakland Mills in the boys’ basketball season-opener for both schools.

The Scorpions Daeshawn Eaton lit up the Comets for 31 points in a 67-52 win. He converted 11 field goal attempts, including three from beyond the three-point arc and sank 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Oakland Mills was comfortably in front all night after outscoring the Comets 21-10 in the first quarter. Dooley Riggs added eight points for the Scorpions and Fred Eiland and Jalen Gaymon netted seven each.

Dashawn Dixon paced Catonsville with 16 points and Kevin Sprull netted 11, while Caleb Owens pitched in with nine points.
