Seeking to boost school spirit, Severn School has unveiled The Admiral, the school’s new mascot.
The Admiral project was initiated by Severn’s Spirit Captains last fall and they worked on the final concept which gained the approval of headmaster Douglas Lagarde.
The Admiral is a striking figure adorned in a burgandy admiral’s jacket, with tails, dark slacks and brown boots. He also has a burgandy captain’s hat, emblazoned with a white “S” which matches the lettering in the school’s logo. A crop of thick red hair peaks out from under the hat, matching the character’s bushy red eyebrows and thick mustache.
The mascot was introduced to the student body during a special gathering last week in Severn’s Price Auditorium and he made his official debut over the weekend during the school’s Homecoming festivities. Senior Tony Olmert has the honor of being the first student to wear the outfit and serve as The Admiral.
