Marc Burton scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to rally visiting Severn past Gilman for a 58-56 MIAA B Conference basketball victory, Friday night at Gilman.
Gilman made a last minute run, with a pair of three from Cyrus Jones, who led all scorers on the night with 30 points and the Greyhounds had a shot at victory in the in the final seconds, but Ryan Ripken’s three-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out.
Stan Burdish joined Burton with team-high scoring honors with 16 points and Max Siegrist added 12 for the Admirals. Ripken finished with 10 for Gilman.
Despite the loss, Gilman (11-15 overall) remains solidly in fifth place in the B Conference at 9-8. Severn (6-16 overall) improved to 5-11 in the league and maintains some hope for claiming a playoff position, but the odds remain long for the Admirals.
