Chris Kirchenhelter of Severna Park, who spent the past three seasons as an assistant football coach at Severna Park High School, has been named head football coach at Severn School, Severn Director of Athletics Julian Domenech announced on Wednesday.

Kirchenheiter is well poised to take the reins.  Along with his coaching duties at Severna Park, Kirchenheiter has been coaching Green Hornets football for the past 10 years.  After his college playing days at Randolph Macon College, he was a graduate assistant at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill for several years before moving on to Lake Braddock High School (Fairfax, VA) where he taught math and coached football for five years.

“Coaching at Severn is a unique opportunity,” commented Kirchenheiter. “Severn has amazing facilities, a supportive administration and, most importantly, quality student athletes who represent themselves and their school the right way. I am excited about the chance to work with the football team and hope to return to Severn’s long tradition as a winning football program.”
