The Maryland Christian Saints displayed an ability to make big plays in their season opener on Saturday, as they rolled over visiting Friends, 35-0, as the two squads kicked off their 2010 football campaigns in Kingsville.
Michael James ignited the Saints with a 30-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Jed Yousefi added a 60-yard punt return later in the opening stanza.
The Saint defense was also on the market, swarming the Quaker offense, which was unable to sustain any drives during the shutout loss.
Friends will look to regroup over the next two weeks as it prepares for its home opener on Sept. 11 against Maret (DC).
The Saints, a home school program led by Tony Dipaola, will travel to Virginia next Saturday to face Fairfax Home School.
