Devon Saddler’s career at the University of Delaware has gotten off to a fast start. The 2009 Aberdeen High graduate has started all three games for the Blue Hens (1-2 overall), and leads the team in scoring (13.3 points a game) and assists (six).

In his first start Nov. 13 against Ohio University, Saddler had 19 points and seven assists in an 88-69 loss. Ohio University stunned Georgetown in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament last March.

The Blue Hens took on another 2010 NCAA Tournament participant, Cornell University, which reached the Sweet 16. Saddler finished with 15 points and six rebounds in a 75-61 road loss.

In Delaware’s home opener against Howard, Saddler scored six points but handed out a game-high eight assists in a 66-34 victory.

One of the area’s top players in his senior season, Saddler led Aberdeen to the UCBAC championship. He spent last season at Winchendon Prep in Massachusetts before joining the Blue Hens.
