After getting swept in the regular season by Beth Tfiloh, Saints Peter & Paul traveled to Pikesville on Tuesday for the MIAA C Conference soccer quarterfinals and received three outstanding individual performances to capture a 3-0 victory over the host Warriors and advance to Thursday’s semifinals.
Matt Reb scored all three goals for the fifth-seeded Sabres and teammate Drew Mlynarski was there for all three assists. In addition, goalkeeper Alex Lightly stopped 12 shutouts to earn his sixth shutout of the year.
With the victory, the Sabres improved to 7-9-1 on the season and they will now travel to top-seeded Baltimore Lutheran on Thursday to battle for a place in Saturday’s championship game, which will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Archbishop Spalding. Fourth-seeded Beth Tfiloh finished its season at 7-8-2.
Thursday’s other semifinal will match third-seeded Mount Carmel at second-seeded Key School. While the Obezags enjoyed a bye on Tuesday, while Mount Carmel advanced with a 2-0 win over Chapelgate Christian.
