Ninth-ranked Tigers come from behind in all three games to claim sweep

A big crowd gathered at Bel Air High School on Tuesday evening to celebrate Senior Night for the Bobcats 10th-ranked volleyball team and witness a showdown with No. 9 Rising Sun for the UCBAC Chesapeake Division title, as the two rivals closed out their respective regular seasons.

The emotions of the evening and the fast start by Bel Air (11-2) in each of the three sets gave the home fans plenty to cheer about, but at the end of each game it was the Rising Sun girls with the biggest smiles, as they battled from behind in each set to capture a 26-24, 25-22, 25-20 sweep of the Bobcats. It was the second loss of the year for Bel Air and both have been at the hands of the Tigers (12-1).

Sophia Eckerd led Rising Sun, serving at 72.7% with a team-high 22 attempts and three aces. She also delivered a team best 12 kills and added three digs.

Lauren Hudson added nine kills and shared the team high lead in digs with Breelyn Young, both registering 10. Hudson and Lexi Good also each delivered four aces. Emily Jackson and Megan Hoyle did most of the setup work, handing out 15 and 11 assists, respectively.

“While a Chesapeake Division Championship is nice, it does not compare to playing a highly competitive match this time of the season,” said Rising Sun coach Rich Wilson, who pointed out his team has one regular season match remaining before it can full enjoy a league title. “Bel Air is a force in the UCBAC. To be able to win in their building with their fans cheering them on , for me, is the real reward. I wish every team in the UCBAC could experience how much fun a match like this is to play.”

Leading the Bel Air attack was senior Megan Hoy (4 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks, 2 digs), sophomore Maddie Reagan (3 kills, 1 ace, 5 digs), senior Brooke Myers (4 kills, 4 blocks), junior McKenna Reiswig (3 kills, 4 blocks) and senior Erin Kenney (3 kills, 3 blocks).

Other key contributors for Bel Air were senior Radhika Patel (17 digs), and junior Olivia Simon (12 assists, 5 digs).
