Rakia Bryant scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds, lifting host Reservoir to a 45-41 victory over defending Howard County league champ River Hill in girls’ basketball Monday. The Gators (5-2 overall, 4-2 Howard) opened up a 16-8 first quarter advantage, then 25-17 at halftime.
Emily Smoot contributed nine points and Kara Higgins eight points and three rebounds. Meg Sterling led all scorers with 18 points for River Hill (2-4 overall and Howard) and Holly Sandler added 12.
