Hocker paces Edmondson with a double-double; Frink named MVP


Edmondson’ Daniel Frink scored 15 points in the final and earned MVP honors for Bracket 8.

The Edmondson High boys basketball team completed a two-day sweep of its games at the Governor’s Challenge in Salisbury, winning the Bracket 8 title with a 73-51 rout of Wagner (NY), on Thursday morning.

The Red Storm (5-1), which also routed Georgetown Day (DC), 70-40, in Wednesday’s tourney opener, jumped on Wagner quickly in the final, outscoring their opponents 17-6 in the first quarter.

The lead kept expanding until it reached 55-27 after three quarters, before Wagner made up some ground on the Edmondson reserves in the fourth.

Twelve players scored points for the Red Storm, led by 15 points from Daniel Frink and 13 from Marcus Hocker. Hocker also had a huge day on the glass, completing a double-double with 12 rebounds, to go with five assists and three steals. In addition, Barry Jones and Tre’Shawn Lewis combined for 15 points and 15 rebounds.
