After nearly a week of banging helmets with fellow teammates, area high school football teams get to hit against each other this weekend in preseason scrimmages.

Here’s a quick look some of the best over the next two weeks. 

Baltimore County Jamboree

When: Saturday, 9 a.m.

Where: Dundalk High

Overview: This event lives up to the billing. All 24 Baltimore County public teams will be on display including defending Class 2A state champ, perennial power Hereford and up-and-coming Chesapeake-BC and Franklin.

Eight-team scrimmage at Calvert Hall College

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

Overview: Calvert Hall, which figures to challenge for the MIAA A Conference title, welcomes a strong field including defending Class 4A state champ Old Mill, Baltimore City strongholds Poly and Edmondson, Wilde Lake and Mount Hebron from Howard County, Carroll County power Century and Urbana from Frederick County.

Three-team scrimmage at Arundel

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

Overview: River Hill and Arundel, two of the area’s elite, will take to the field along with Crossland from the tough and physical Prince George’s County league.

Three-team scrimmage at Loyola Blakefield

When: Aug. 25, 5 p.m.

Overview: Arundel and MIAA B finalist Boys’ Latin get run against a Loyola squad looking for a big bounce back season in 2010.

Fort Hill at River Hill

When: Aug. 27, 5 p.m.

Overview: Western Maryland power to make trek to Clarksville for final tuneup.

Hereford at Old Mill

When: Aug. 27, 6 p.m.

Overview: An inexperienced Hereford squad takes on Anne Arundel County’s best before tough regular season opener at North Harford.

Franklin at Boys’ Latin

When: Aug. 28, 10 a.m.

Overview: After scrimmages with Gilman, Arundel and Loyola, Boys’ Latin gets final warm-up against arguably the most athletic team in Baltimore County.
