OUTLOOK
Arguably the state’s top two quarterback prospects in the Class of 2011 meet. At 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, Brunswick’s Fisher is the high school football equivalent to Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback Ben Rothlisberger.
Fisher, who being recruited by Wisconsin and Oregon, overcame two interceptions in the opening quarter to spearhead the Railroaders to a 36-22 decision over Western Tech in the North Region finals last Friday. He completed 16 of 25 for 269 yards and four touchdowns, and ran in for a score as the Frederick County outscored the previously unbeaten Wolverines, 28-2.
After a slow start against Bohemia Manor, Darin Washington came through in the second half of the Warriors’ 40-34 decision in the East Region finale. He completed his final four passes for 84 yards and connected with Dayshawn Bolling for the game-tying score in the final quarter. Washington finished with 134 yards passing and added 34 on the ground.
Mike Kelly’s 30-yard run with under two minutes remaining was the difference for Havre de Grace. Kelly, a recent transfer from Aberdeen, rushed for 209 yards.
Expect offensive fireworks Friday evening at Harris Stadium. Havre de Grace is seeking its first title game berth since 1988.
