A growing holiday basketball tradition in Anne Arundel County is the annual Public vs. Private Schools Basketball Challenge.  The 2010 edition was held at Arundel High School on Saturday with the Publics capturing two of the three contests.

In the opener, Indian Creek scored the only win for the privates as the Eagles topped Northeast, 77-60.  Tashoun Barnes continued his strong season thus far with 23 points and 10 rebounds while Cyle Porter scored 13 points for Creek.

In the middle game, Broadneck outscored Severn 18-3 in the second quarter to reverse a one-point deficit and rolled to a 59-43 victory over the Admirals.

Taquan Colbert and Darnell Solomon combined for 29 points to lead the Bruins, while Marc Burton and Jake Brudish split 22 points to lead Severn.

In the nightcap, host Arundel clinched things for the publics with a 65-57 win over Annapolis Area Christian.  Again, the second quarter proved decisive as the Wildcats turned a 15-13 lead into a 33-23 halftime advantage.

Tyler Lewis of AACS led all scorers with 22 points, while Arundel had three players in double figures led by Billy Fowler and his 14 points.  In addition, David Nicholson and Anthony Baker each scored 10 points.
