While the rest of its MIAA A Conference rivals were putting on an impressive showing against the finest teams the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference has to offer, at the I-95 Kickoff Classic in Towson, Georgetown Prep, the MIAA’s lone DC area entry, was savoring an impressive season opener as well.

The Little Hoyas, playing at home on Friday afternoon, routed visiting Fork Union Military Academy (VA), 35-7.

Edward Brennan connected on a pair of first quarter field goals, while Bobby Gribbin and Dominic Bryan combined for 185 yards rushing.  Each back scored a rushing touchdown, as did quarterback Bobby Rutland.  Dan Russell also rushed for a prep score.

Leading 6-0 heading into the second quarter, Gribbin scored on a six yard burst and Bryan added a two-point conversion to give Prep a 14-0 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Rutland scored from five yards out and Bryan scored early in the fourth to push the Hoya lead to 28-0.  After Fork Union got on the board, Russell closed things out with a two-yard touchdown run.

Up next for Georgetown Prep is a Friday night contest in Fairfax, Va. with Paul VI.
