Making its first ever trip to Ellicott City to face new MIAA A Conference league rival Glenelg Country, Calvert Hall was hoping to gain a split in their season series with the Dragons. GCS, however, took control early and closed out the Cardinals from the free throw line in claiming an impressive 66-59 win on Friday night.
Junior Warren Powers was the star of the game for Glenelg Country, posing a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots. Kevin Boyd also had a big night for the Dragons with 17 points. The pair also combined to sink 19-of-20 free throw attempts. Glenelg Country converted 13-of-16 free throws in the fourth quarter to thwart any comeback attempts by the Cardinals.
Chancelor Barnard added 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks for the Dragons, and Cesar Jove-Vives also added 10 points.
Calvert Hall was led by three players all with 13 points – Justin Beck, Denzel Richardson and Julian Davis.
