Poly High girls’ basketball team completed a successful weekend at the 15th annual Basketball Academy Saturday, knocking off Milford Mill,  45-32, at Coppin State University. Junior guard Kori Dean and freshman Jasmine Smith each scored 13 points for the No. 20 Engineers (7-5 overall).

Trailing 12-6 after the opening period, Poly outscored the Millers, 14-5, to take a 20-17 halftime advantage. The Engineers, who beat No. 16 Woodlawn Thursday, held the Baltimore County school to a free throw in the third, expanding their advantage to 33-18.

Senior forward Desiree Carr led Milford Mill with 12 points, and Alisha Burley added 10.

Willingsboro (N.J.) 47, No. 10 Western 39

The Doves were unable to maintain a halftime advantage falling to Willingsboro. Sophomore center Michya Owens scored a game-high 23 points, and Kara Cezar added 13 for Willingsboro (9-1 overall).

Freshman guard Qierra Murray led Western (7-5) with 15 points. The Doves led 25-17 at intermission, but managed just four points in the third quarter, and Willingsboro claimed a 30-29 advantage.

Willingsboro routed City, 57-30, Friday.
