Despite being outshot 13-9, Sparrows Point made two of its attempts count for first half goals, as the host Pointers downed Towson, 2-0, in Baltimore County girls soccer, on Wednesday.
Katie Beam, on a feed from Nicole Walsh, put Sparrows Point up 1-0 in the first half, and Lauren Spivey stretched the advantage to two, with an assist from Marci Zellars, prior to intermission.
Towson kept the pressure on all afternoon, but never could break through, as Sparrows Point’s Maggie Shifflet dominated in goal, stopping 13 shots from the Generals.
Towson’s Nicole Yingling made seven stops on the other side.
