Field hockey can be a low scoring game in which the outcome of a contest turns on a key opportunity or two.  In it’s season opener on Friday, Garrison Forest shot holes in that philosophy as the Grizzlies found scoring opportunities plentiful in a 9-0 rout over visiting National Cathedral.

Garrison led 3-0 at the half before blowing the contest open with six second half goals.

Head coach Traci Davis had to be pleased with the balanced offensive approach, as seven different Grizzlies netted goals, with senior Meghan Cover and freshman Brooke Adler leading the way with two each.

The other goals came from seniors Ali Pritchard and Martha Plack, junior Cody Magness, sophomore Amy Misera and freshman Geagy Pritchard.

Senior Liza Blue added a pair of assists, while Ana Henrich, Brooke Powell, Callie Murphy and Plack all added one each.

Senior Emily Cain and junior Candice Fisher shared goalkeeping duties for the Grizzlies, but so dominant was their team’s performance that neither was called on to make a save.

Garrison Forest, which is in the IAAM A Conference, will meet its first IAAM opponent on Tuesday, as it hosts McDonogh, of the IAAM B Conference.
