St. John’s Catholic Prep exacted a little revenge, making up for an early season loss, by defeating Annapolis Area Christian, 2-1 in an IAAM B Conference opening round game.
The Eagles topped the Vikings, 1-0, a month ago but St. John’s turned the tide this time around, out-shotting Annapolis Area, 12-10.
Maggie Nelson scored in the first half to give the host Vikings a 1-0 lead that they held on until midway through the second half.
Katie Kinsey found the back of the net to tie the game for the Eagles (7-9-1) but junior Marial Pierce scored the game winning goal with 7:35 left in regulation to help St. John’s (10-8-2) advance to the quarterfinals round.
The Vikings move on to play host and second-seeded Roland Park on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
